JANUARY 17, 2019: The City of San Francisco's public health officials have identified a pest, Asian citrus psyllid. The pest will No citrus fruit or leaves should be moved or transported. There is nothing you can spray on a tree to cure it. The insect is just the vector for the disease. Once the tree has greening disease it has to be destroyed according to the USDA. (Fingers are crossed that our neighborhood trees won't be impacted, and if they are, that it's caught before it spreads.) Anyone who thinks they may have seen an Asian citrus psyllid or has symptoms of the Huanglongbing disease on their trees is asked to call the state pest hotline at (800) 491-1899 or the San Francisco Agricultural Commissioner at (415) 252-3830.
