On Friday, November 17th, 2017, a coyote was spotted at Balboa Park, and later the same day at 203 Cotter St.

Coyotes are part of the ecosystem here in San Francisco, and it's not uncommon for them to be seen traveling between larger parks, such as McLaren Park and Glen Park just to the east and northwest of Mission Terrace. This story in
SFGate talks about their history and the reasons behind coyote policies in our city.

Here is further information from SF's Animal Care & Control, about how what to do when you see a coyote.
  • Do NOT let your dog interact with a coyote.
  • Never turn your back on a coyote or run from a coyote.
  • If you encounter a coyote, shout, wave your arms, throw small rocks. The goal is to appear threatening to frighten the coyote away, not to injure it. It is unlawful to harass or injure coyotes.
  • Carry a cane/stick, an air horn or a whistle with you on walks to frighten a coyote away.
  • Never let a coyote come between you and your child or pet.
Don't panic neighbors, but do stay alert.

I saw a coyote RIGHT outside my house today. □ I was on the street and the coyote was a few feet away. I quickly warned an approaching neighbor (who was walking a small dog) and we both backed away into our homes. Later, I got to watch @acc_sf in action and took this video. They were amazing but Wile E Coyote got away anyway. So now I guess we have a new neighbor. □ #coyotesofsanfrancisco #sfanimalcareandcontrol #wildwildwest

Halloween 2017

It was another great year for trick-or-treating!

Three blocks (on Delano, Otsego, and San Gabriel streets) were closed off to traffic for fun and safe running around by kiddos, parents, and a few family dogs.

Please Note:  NMTIA maintains a “good neighbor” policy in our online presence. We have a fantastic community with a variety of perspectives, beliefs, and feelings about many topics. We believe that differing opinions should not interfere with being good neighbors to each other. We encourage civility and mutual respect, and we remove any posts or comments that are belittling, show hostility, or are discriminatory in nature.
